The New MBP

Woot!! http://apple.com has finally announced the rumored refresh for their MacBook Pro line of laptops, just in time too, since the one I've been using will staying behind once my employment situation changes.

If you want to make that nice simple decision more complicated, consider the next MacBook Pros. :)

Punk!

No.. I can't wait that long without a macbook pro, and a 0.3ghz improvement isn't worth waiting for. ;)

Heh heh heh. I'm sort of expecting that this rev got pushed now because Intel is aggressively switching to the new 45nm Penryn processor line (as in, "we're discontinuing the 65nm Merom processors now, so everyone switch!" -- this is part of what Apple signed up for when they went Intel), and the June updates (if they happen then) will have somewhat more redesign, as in, keyboard matching the MacBook Air, maybe a bit more curvy case, possibly BluRay SuperDrives, and somewhat more rearrangement of the internals, along with Intel's "Centrino 2" chipset. It gives me a "reason" to hold off yet again (my PowerBook works well enough for now), but the new/current MacBook Pro's are still pretty darn fine.

I figured out yesterday that my 4 year old 1.25GHz PowerBook G4 is roughly 80 times faster than a 66MHz 486dx2 (such as I used to play Doom and Descent on, eons ago), and the new 2.5GHz MacBook Pros are, in turn, about 4.5 times faster than my PowerBook, or about 360 times faster than that 486 :)
